Leucistic Visitors

August 21, 2018/ Brian Lewis

Several birds with leucism have visited my garden. The Northern Cardinal visited for about a three week period.

Leucism is a mutation that prevents melanin and other pigments from being properly deposited in a bird’s feathers

Sometimes they are bullied and pecked at by other cardinals.
