Winter Birding - Huntsville Botanical Garden

A late February snow offered a rare opportunity to view many species of birds in the Garden. On a quite sunny morning, birds were activity feeding which allowed for close viewing.  Flocks of American Robins, Red-winged Blackbirds, Dark-eyed Juncos, Cedar Waxwings, White-throated Sparrows and Chipping Sparrows were feeding along the forested trails of the Garden.  Three Red-tailed Hawks and a Cooper's Hawk hunted over the South Meadow.  Mallards, Ring-necked Ducks and Gadwalls found shelter and fed on Little Smith Lake.
